Car history: |
1968 Chevrolet Corvette Roadster VIN - 194678S401764 NOM 454 Engine 4 speed Transmission Manual Disc Brakes Manual Steering AM/FM Cassette Stereo Hard Top Chrome Rally Wheels Big Block Hood Built Sept, 1967 This is one of several cars from an estate, what you will read in the description about the car is all that is known. I crawled around the underside, inside and topside to get a good look at the car. The car was painted but it was repainted back to the original LeMans Blue, there are some small blemishes in the paint from driving but is very presentable and it shines well as seen in the pictures. I didn't see any areas of previous damage except for a small spot repaired above the driver rear wheel opening lip. The frame and bird cage are very clean from rust, the history of the car isn't known but suspect a west coast car it's whole life. The wheels are chromed rally wheels, it has nearly new Bridgestone tires all around, the hard top is in good shape with no signs of damage. The car was originally a 327/300 hp car, the current engine codes are as follows, T0936CRW & 12?134869, the 3rd digit denoting the plant for the car was only half stamped and it could be a Q or G or O but not sure. From what I can tell from these numbers this is a 1972 454 built in Tonowanda, it's an LS5 270hp engine from a Chevelle. The engine does seem to run well and I didn't see any visible smoke when starting or running and it didn't leave a puddle where it was parked. The transmission did look like it could be original, it is a Muncie for sure. The brakes felt good when I drove it with no pull and it shifted good with no obvious clutch chatter or slippage, The exhaust has headers, no gasket leaks and the exhaust sounded like it was pretty stock behind the headers. The interior was replaced and color changed from blue (414) vinyl to black vinyl at some point, the seats are in good shape and door panels were good. I suspect it was done in the last 10 years or so because it looks pretty clean and crisp yet. The center console needs a little attention, just making it neat again as nothing major is wrong. The gauges all worked except for the gas gauge, you can see it retains the original 327/300 tachometer. I did find a few things on the car that need attention and are as follows. The vacuum mechanism for the wipers is not hooked up and unsure if it works. The gas gauge isn't working. There is no spare tire or cradle present. There is no convertible top at all, no bows present. Tidy up the center console.
